One of Life's Survivors
Do you remember when your cup was full,
The friends who gave meaning to your life.
Do you remember times of the special joy,
When you met that wonderful girl or boy.
Do you remember when life sometimes went wrong.
When they wanted to sing another song.
Do you remember those rose colored glasses,
That made all your dreams turn into successes
Do you remember the times they didn't work.
When behind your back folk seemed to smirk
Do you remember just how you felt at that time.
Made to feel like a criminal without doing a crime
Do you remember the hurt that you felt inside,
How when the darkness came you just cried.
Do you remember the time of your new start,
When the pain of the loneliness left your heart.
Well, if you can relate to all the above verses
My friend you have survived some of life's curses.
When life throws you a curve, don't duck or deny,
Stand tall and be firm, look life straight in the eye,
You came through the battle, now lay down your arms
You have weathered life's storms, now enjoy it's calms.
