One Day She Said
“One Day She Said”
One day she said
you will be here
present in this life
and you will think me dead
ghosts cling to light
they speak their truths
to their infinite God
found in the dark
the darkest of times
like swimming
to the deepest depths
there that deity resides
waiting for our light
it breathes
us in
and out
in all living beings
a part of Brahman within
we ghosts cling to the living
glowing in our books of self
we produced like children
borne from the love
and loss of giving
joy and sadness
we fought wars
looking for ourselves
in you our children, like religion
we thought would shine us new
we see you looking
for us now and again
still in the missing
face to wall or window
crying or smiling
we wrap ourselves around you
silky mists of memory
velvet soft, we pull all your strings
we hide within you
touching your heart
no matter how good
or broken of soul you are
you remain the poetry
that sings us in
we come to you
when you believe
we still live -
we are in the air
you breathe
the salt you taste in your tears
like holy prayers
whispered in the dark
your light we see
burning somewhere
for all eternity
One day she said
you will see

“Brahman is a supreme, universal spirit that is eternal and unchanging. Hindu holy books refer to Brahman as being present throughout the entire universe and Hindus believe that all living beings carry a part of Brahman within them. This divine spark is known as the Atman , or soul, and it is immortal.”
“The Katha Upanishad describes Brahman as: That which is awake in us even while we sleep, shaping in dreams the objects of our desire – that indeed is pure, that is Brahman, and that verily is called the Immortal. All the worlds have their being in that, and no one can transcend it. That is the Self (Katha Upanishad 2.2.8)”
“One who knows Brahman, reaches the highest. Satya (reality, truth) is Brahman, Jnana (knowledge) is Brahman, Ananta (infinite) is Brahman” (Taittiriya Upanishad 2.1.1)
