One Day
One day I’ll wake up and be a normal high school girl
One day I won't be defined by the color of my skin
One day I won’t be judged by the number of tears I’ve cried
One day I won’t be a freak for having mental problems
One day I’ll be able to hold my lover without looks of disgust
One day I’ll be able to talk about my problems without “Wanting attention”
One day I can walk outside without fear of getting shot
One day I’ll look at the news and then feel safe about going to school
One day I won’t have to worry about being sexualized because of my clothing
One day I won't feel afraid to walk alone at night or about what's around the corner
One day I won’t get “fitness tips” because of my body type
One day I won’t be misgendered because of my personality
One day I can have male friends without being asked “When’s the wedding”
One day I won’t be compared to my siblings
One day I’ll understand why the world is like this
One day is not guaranteed, one day isn’t going to be tomorrow
One day will only come after tons of celebration and sorrows
One day is something that’ll have to be made and not just
Waited upon. It’s something that needs to be built and that’s a must
One day isn’t more dependent on males or females
It depends on the community's efforts not to fail
One day I’ll be considered normal but until then,
I’ll just be me and I’ll keep dreaming about
One day.
