“Nothing can happen more beautiful than death.” - Walt Whitman Once visited by pain, I begged for it to leave me be, but it enjoyed its stay. Merciless it was and unrelenting until one day as in my bed I lay. . . I’d gone to sleep; my bed became a boat surrounded by the dreamy blue of sea. As if by intuition, I took a plunge. Deep water welcomingly embraced me. It pulled me to the bosom of its depths, and I surrendered as it stole my breath. My pain was vanishing as with relief I realized that I was tasting death.

"Deep" really very much so, enjoyed your metaphor of sleep and bed being stretched like a sea

I came for the poetry, stayed for the pain (okay, that sounded way too dark) But seriously, your words cut deep and soft at the same time. Beautifully done. Would love for you to stop by my page if you're ever in the mood to feel more feelings.

It's going to happen to us all. If we have faith in the lord, and live our life according to his word, death is not something to fear.

Indeed...we must die to the old, if to experience a blessed new birth. Lovely writing. Many times in this life, I have died...and been saved from death, by our Lord...so that I may have blessed opportunity to die again. Many mysteries man does not understand. Women also.

For some death is truly a relief from terrible suffering and pain. You described the initial experience well
