On the Way To the Prayer Meeting

On my way to the prayer meeting with the Lord Something funny and amusing happened to me… First, I faced Miss Skeptic with her arrogant stare Scorning, she yelled at me: “You’re just wasting time!” Minutes later, Mr. Pretense questioned my motive “Are you really sure that you’re communing with God?” Without reluctance, Mrs. Rumor intervened… “Oh, we gain data from people’s varied petitions.” Then the happy-go-lucky lad joined me gaily Saying, “I can’t come, but I’ll be there in spirit.” Off he drifted fast, outrunning the busy lass Who handed me her litany list of requests. Catching my attention afterwards was Sir Doubt With his countless “Do you truly believe…?” queries Behind him was Lady Anxious, full of panic Lamenting while uttering, “So guilty am I.” Suddenly, I woke up… rebuked in my own dream There in my prayer closet, I slept... yet God worked He met me and did teach my heart wondrous lesson… Seeking His presence* humbly with faith pleases Him.
*Psalm 16:11 Thou (LORD) wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. June 29, 2018

Hi Beata, First, thank you for the feedback on "Dear Fate!" I don't have the same faith in God as thou, but your poems are beautiful! And I love the humor in "On the way to the prayer meeting." God bless you.

as one who is almost constantly being asked or asking for prayers...i never bother with anything or anyone on my way to the task....the world is filled with skeptics...but not mine. as a former hospital chaplain, my job was to comfort and to counsel...sometimes walk to the cafeteria and bring them a sandwich, possibly a newspaper, when a door was needed, He never failed to open one up
