As life comes to us, so is it required of us,
You are now the last on the list;
The list that has no end,
And now we stare at the severance of time,
And space, that forever separates us;
Life unfolded without you thirty years ago,
Leaving muffled sounds of anguish
In the vacuum you left behind.
Now, you’ve plowed your field
And hung up the harness;
I now put behind me, the torment,
Corrupting my thoughts during this time;
Today, I sift and pan for good times long foregone,
Staring beyond life’s rational fluff,
At mental photographs of our past,
Not all existing in colors that please,
Many pastels; some Grey’s and Black’s;
My thoughts are jaded by lost years,
I regret any anguish life had for you,
Or matters you endured making life what it was;
Or anything I have unwittingly done or said.
You leave behind hurting children and family
To grapple with many questions,
That only God now has answers to.
While we’ll never see the spot where you rest alone
You will not become, to us, a forgotten stone,
I fathom your death not as the end,
But as a new beginning- somewhere;
We all loved you,
Goodbye Joe
Lord,
I pray that you grant Joe’s family
Your peace, in regard to questions that exist, for which we seek answers to,
A healing, of our minds and spirits, and closure that only you can provide;
Delete from memory anything during childhood
That might be unpleasant to his children this hour;
In Jesus name;
Tom
