Notes About The Poem

Oldies Are Goldies

like the refrain
of an old half forgotten song
you play in my mind
over and over
and I hum along
no longer remembering words
but sing-a-long feelings
keep me in tune

you were a hit
top of my charts
and yet
new songs have come
new tunes are sung
new words blaze
and yet
in that haze
of half forgotten things
I still hear
I still yearn
and then I smile
for a while
knowing
as you do too!

oldies are goldies

Now, isn't that the truth!

Dearest Eileen!!! Hate to admit it but I'm slowing down! May not seem like it by my number of posts each day but I'm delving into my vast reservoir for those that I've accumulated over the years!!! I notice you are not as active as well! Anyway it is great to talk with you again Betty Boop, Love, Kenny xoxoxox Somehow...those golden days seem to be....gone forever. I can't seem to get back into the game here. It's ok. It sure is good to get a visit from you

Time goes by too quickly Eileen, and many of my 'oldies' have passed away, or contact has been lost altogether. But often I think about them and the parts they played in my life. Hugs // paul

Thanks, Shadow. I'm glad you caught that. I fixed it. I haven't been able to write recently. Here's hoping things will improve. Hugs

I think of lost love like old songs, the joy of the first hearing replaced with a soft, comforting hug like an old friend. or my tatty slippers. Viv x

Viv....I was inspired by the reappearance of an old acquaintance. This isn't about music at all, but...I thought the analogy fit. Hugs
