Old churches and buildings do seem to have a feeling of soulfulness from all the souls that have passed through them. Nice Senryu to match the picture, Sara. Write on, my love! Bill

Sara, your senryu is truly exceptional and thought-provoking. The imagery of old edifices appearing immortal due to their construction is quite profound. Your poem continues to showcase your talent and skill in writing Senryus.

The soul of a building…no one’s there in its creative emptiness, one feels the past linger, wisps touch the quietness of our souls. :) Blessings, sweet lady!

This reminds me of a lonely fragile old man on Christmas day who in the snow was looking for food but the shops were all closed. I realised he had dementia and had no food , so I walked him home , I went back to my house and brought back loads of Christmas food for him , my heart was breaking , the next day I called to see if he was okay but he didn't recognise me , and turned me away ,he was trapped in his own sanctuary , he wasn't there, but he had soul . Words sometimes trigger lost memories , thank you for unlocking this one . Daniel

thanks for sharing your experience with me...a poignant and sad story. I'm delighted my poem triggered the memory of the man 'trapped in his own sanctuary.' My dad was that way near the end of his life after a stroke rendered him speechless and unable to care for himself. He was trapped inside himself, but I could always see his soul and his yearning to be free. Now I'm teary eyed. I appreciate your sensitivity and mindfulness as well as your visit. Have a pleasant day, Sara

This is a poignant senryu. It seems that old edifices should be alive forever, because that is the way they were built. Again, you have written a terrific poem.
