OLD MAN MOSES - SCOTLAND RISES Old man Moses’ sits upon his rock, contemplating his woes Moses ails but, a vision of land, for his sons and daughters Born not to settle for their history as more than transpose Exiled from Israel then travelling by shore and sailed waters Moses ails but, a vision of land, for his sons and daughters A true descendant of Joseph and his coat of colours woven Exiled from Israel then travelled by shore and sailed waters North, south, east, and west, expelled by others unspoken A true descendant of Joseph and his coat of colours woven His sons and daughters; arrive on a new shore as refugees North, south, east, and west, expelled by others unspoken Arrived; on Scottish soil, as to become a part of it deputies His sons and daughters; arrive on a new shore as refugees Passing through other nations, either as free or, by slavery Arrived; on Scottish soil, as to become a part of it deputies Thus, looked upon by Scotland, as the travellers of bravery Passing through other nations, either as free or, by slavery Old man Moses’ sons and daughters, their history was told Thus, looked upon by Scotland, as the travellers of bravery Now; residing in no such fairer country of beauty to behold Old man Moses’ sons and daughters; their history was told Fought nay' on blood but, peaceful endeavours of intellects Now; residing in no such fairer country of beauty to behold With their blood upon Scottish land, that as truly interjects Fought nay' on blood but, peaceful endeavours of intellects Yea' old man Moses, dreams carried from your land of strife With your blood upon Scottish land, that as truly interjects To become as one with the Scottish soil, so a part of its life Yea' old man Moses, dreams carried from your land of strife No fairer land, is less worthy of our blood, as Scotland rises To become as one with the Scottish soil; so a part of its life With your movement to Scotland’s land, amongst the wises No fairer land, is less worthy of our blood, as Scotland rises Born not to settle, for their history as more than transpose With your movement to Scotland’s land, amongst the wises Old man Moses’, sit's upon his rock, contemplating his woes Indiana Shaw . . . Rather amazing epic pantoum there, Indiana... Interesting to see how Moses wound up in Scotland. Trying to picture him with a kilt and bagpipes... Here's a little haha: When I read the title, I thought you had written 'Old Man Moses -- Scotland Roses." How about that?! Happy Tuesday evening, Gershon
