Go Away Yesterday

Drunk on emotions she wandered, through forests of anguish and pondered, vile, those years squandered; go away yesterday. Breathless she runs through life, tumbling in rivers of strife, memories like a cutting knife; go away yesterday. "Meadows are easily forsaken" says she, "when beasts of regret roam free," "slay them that I may live peaceably"; go away yesterday. Alas, she wanders still, round each bend looms anxieties hill, her destiny guided by will; go away yesterday. 5 May 2018, Rhyme & Refrain Contest by Broken Wings

Your last stanza leaves me feeling her inability to overcome her past but hints at the possibility of deeper emotional issues.

Indeed, but her will to overcome pushes her forward...perhaps then therein lies hope. Thanks for the thoughts!

Congratulations on your placement. At times I've been that person, at other times I know that person. Well-written story of a tragic lost soul. Enjoyed.
