Oh, Beautiful Rose
Oh, beautiful Rose, how nice to meet you!
Fresh, cheerful, and ready for your day’s work,
Of greeting and cheering up people who care for you,
And even those who just don’t care or are too busy;
Feeding the bees and butterflies, adorning little girls, lovely women, gods, and others.
Always smiling, braced up and braving enemies—rough weather,
The pests and parasites, the snails and caterpillars, and creatures of their ilk,
Also beasts and pernicious pollution.
Honey, you sweeten the world by your very presence.
And though your life is short, you make life better and beautiful!
