Of Considerable Faith
treading
water during the
day to day
during the
9 to five
full of hatred
full of anger
but willed with
the cowardice of
those who hope
there’s a “god”
so as to get
that secret justice
that they so
passionately desire
on a daily basis
when they flick on
the television &
see another
dastardly deed
gone awry
as if it will all
make sense some
day, as if it is
owed to the faithful
&
this is the one
who bides his/her
time, who holds it
all in, whose fists
clench more often
than not & in the
event that the state
calls said individual
into the courtroom,
in the event that they
walk behind a badge,
in the event that they
sit with their finger on
the button, they gain a
psychotic faith in
themselves in which
to be the direct extension
of the “god” whose
justice they desire one
day to see,
can be a temptation
that for many
can be much too
great.
