Ode to a speck

A singular speck So rarely noticed More often removed rather than studied But here you are, you made it In view! All we crave and despise 'to be looked at' I see you now, your fleeting time On the side of the roll top bath I happen to be in You knowing nothing of me I learn very little of you Other than you aren't any type of creature I found that out by gentle squashing An unfortunate way if you were But you are clearly a tiny bit of sand Quite historical if you had a tale to tell The years you have existed Perhaps resided in one place watching it change Or travelled with the tides I've half a mind to return you to a beach But how strange to save a single grain of sand I have some thinking time It will include you and your fate

A thought provoking poem DD, taking the unremarkable and insignificant and making a story, a doorway into another world. An entertaing and clever poem. Enjoyed being ferried along by your imagination and can relate to it.

Thank you for your kindness Paul, I feel there's a chance of a successful wandering/wondering if things are kept small :)

A very good poem. I am still wondering about its continued journey. This was an interesting poem.

Think it fell to the floor as I got distracted (there's only so long a single speck can hold your attention haha). I feel these could be the slow years for the speck :)

And there you have it Dilly, that single speck was given meaning by your human observation, I know it sounds insignificant and petty, but that speck if studied properly would yield information, perhaps even which beach or quarry or indeed crime scene it came from, see where I’m going here lol! Cheers David

It got away and it's stories remain untold, I did go to a beach too and brought more home rather than returned any. The whole world is a crime scene if you go back far enough eek!
