October trembles a sigh of defeat
Beckoning trees to shed their leaves
Gentle gusts whisper through the sprays
~
Vivid colors paint the forest a carpet
Red, amber and gold cry of melancholy
October trembles a sigh of defeat
~
Soft skies calm the heart’s deep yearning
Creating a world of whimsical harmony
Gentle gusts whisper through the sprays
~
Squirrels and raccoons gather their meals
Carrying desserts to the shelter of tree limbs
October trembles a sigh of defeat
~
Echoes of birdsong murmur out a melody
Singing breathlessly in the air that is crispy
Gentle gusts whisper through the sprays
~
Reflections of autumn create the scene
Turning the land from laughter to grief
October trembles a sigh of defeat
Gentle gusts whisper through the sprays
