Obsessive Orange

I will always hate the colour orange. Consider:
Last meeting was on promoting sales of necklaces,
The folder given was orange.

Going home was a one-lane affair,
An orange sign stated, “Works Ahead”.
Orange traffic cones lined the lane on each side.

Arriving home I found my wife had installed orange curtains.
By this time I began to have some shivers.

Dinner began: orange pumpkin soup with orange buffalo wings.
“Come dear have some orange juice laced with orange vitamin pills.”

Opening TV and orange Garfield appeared.
Even the Cheetos and Utz Cheese Balls were orange.
Turning to a book what do I get?
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess.

That’s when I began to really hate the colour
For even the goldfish had the same colour.
“Is it possible in this world it’s all orange?”
My wife thought about that and said:
“Oh no my dear, there’s salmon, carrot, coral, titian….”
Disgusted I left the house towards a verdant park.

Orange works for me. I hand painted a Morris Minor orange and then went ahead and crashed it. Have missed catching you with latest news. Our eldest daughter is expecting identical twin boys in August. Your poem had merit and will get you plenty of comments. Best regards David in NZ

Hi Victor, I was hooked on orange in my youth, knitted orange jumpers to go with my brown skirts, orange handbag and shoes too, thought I were the bees knees. Enjoyed reading your poem… Beryl

Yep the world can seem orange saturated, and the sky a mess of blue, like the Mediterranean seeped up or visa versa...maybe why I sometimes prefer the old, Black And White movies. Delightful read my friend.

This sounds hilarious...Is there any rational reason for your dislike of orange? Why do you hate orange so much? Is it because it reminds you of Autumn.... the closing years of one's life? It is a color that denotes optimism and energy. However, your poem is beautifully written dear Victor

Too much orange will surely get tiresome. It was amusing to read about this excessively orange day, but you did resolve the dilemma well. :D

Victor, you have composed a remarkably vibrant poem. You can take advantage of this opportune moment while the Barbie movie inundates the surroundings with a pink hue. However, he might have to exercise patience until a touch of green emerges. It appears to be a day overflowing with an abundance of orange. This playful observation is indeed a delightful piece of literature.

Great poem on orange obsessing. i think I did an orange poem once and I thought up lots of good things as well as the annoying thing. It's much more fun to write on colors like yellow or blue!

Thanks for a colorful poem. You may get a break because the Barbie movie is coloring everything pink. You may have to wait a while for green to swing by. Anyhow, Happy St. Patrick's Day.

Dear Victor, You brilliantly capture the overwhelming presence of a color in everyday life, igniting a humorous yet relatable journey of frustration. Your scenes and clever narrative evoke both amusement and sympathy, drawing me and the readers into your orange-infused world. Your ability to create humor into the mundane is truly captivating. This witty and entertaining piece highlights the power of perception in our experiences. - Blessings, Daniel Warm regards,

Cute one, Victor. I can see how orange could turn one off if it became associated with so many negative items in their life. Thanks for sharing this one with us and for dropping by my page. Sara K
