Obsession
A woman, sporting a platinum necklace,
May be obsessed with her overweight,
And would envy a slim woman doing window-shopping,
Whereas the latter would covet the platinum necklace!
A thick-haired young man on his sport-bike
Would envy a baldheaded man in his BMW
And the BMW man, in turn, might look wistfully
At the young man’s thick hair!
While a mother with twin babies
May feel harassed about babysitting,
A childless woman watching her
Would feel morbidly jealous!
A young man in good health
May be angry with the world,
Or terribly obsessed with love.
But a man of sixty, watching him,
Would be regretting loss of health!
A young woman, obsessed with money,
May be cursing the whole world,
Whereas a middle-aged woman watching her
May be worried about ageing!
The two men in the story “The Enchanted Shirt”
Are both depressed, one because his wife is dead
And the other because his is alive!
Is there a remedy?
