Obliviously Blinded

It's true.. the girl I really wanted Was someone more than good to me She'd be known for all her kindness To everyone that she would see She'd encourage friends and family Support dreams and fight for cause Be just as beautiful from the inside Never one to focus on others flaws Oh, this world has too much drama At the same time it's starved for love So if together we're both not better If we don't fit like a hand in glove When God's children.. used as pawns Break my heart and make me cry But you're obliviously blinded by "selfies" I think it's time for us to say goodbye You've got to know when love is over It's tough, but alone I'll carry on When lover's souls are not in sync The treasure of intimacy is gone You can't live going through motions I still believe in awe and serendipity So I have hope for kids at the border And out there, there's a "you" for me ~Lyric Man Note: I wanted to make a strong statement about the issue of kids being separated from their parents at the border. I thought I might see if I could shape that in the context of a love relationship altered by this crisis.

So if together we're both not better - sums up a life in a storm. Finding a balance is rare :)

I too believe in love and serendipity; nicely written, a great read. I believe you might want to write a poem dedicated to the border idiocy all by itself; you would be good at this.

There's always beauty in Love! Even when two hearts become apart with all the sufferings they may endure, there's still a beauty bonding them! A beautiful write and a wonderful message! Stay blessed.

So true, LM. If a couple doesn't see eye to eye on important issues the bond is broken. And, even though one may be apparently kind, the kindness must go deep enough to break their own heart in the face of cruelty...which the situation with the immigrants is: cruel. Loved the poem. It hit the mark with me. *soup mail

Great statement and comparison to a situation with a bad image of this country.

Hello Lyric Man! It's been a while but I see you've been busy. So have I but at 80 I'm slowing down in areas but not writing, which means my brain is still functioning nicely. I've published a book (100 Epigrams on Martial, the Latin poet, my translations). All issues gone. I sometimes post a few. Happy to hear from you. Hope all is well. / M

What an inhuman situation Mr Trump has created ! Shame on him who represents the greatest nation on earth as they say! Certainly his legislation proved the statement wrong! Greece is a very small country yet more than a million illegal immigrants and refugees have entered our borders, Your inspiring poem my friend deserves my applauds for its quality and its sensitivity! Great work and great sign of humanity dear, Lyric Man!

This is seriously impressive, and I hope it finds its way into many hearts. But some of them are dark. Like adding white to a can of black paint, theirs will always be a shade of gray. Better then to simply throw them away. Anyway, lovely work.
