Nuances
Entice them like anancy to your school doors
Rob them of sap and culture
Throw them out like fungal spores
For what other syllabus, except the rupture
Of faith shall they learn
What shall they do when the dog catchers they discern
Perhaps in violent sun they die
Black on Black of self fulfilling prophecy
Drive by
The prisons where the indiscrete legacies
Are not choked back
Like tears in Michele Obama's eyes
There must be a better day
A must climb
Up or down some ray
Of hope
And escape the swinging rope
Daring him to try.
