Not Good At

Not good at it
I gave up early in life
trying to color
without crossing
the lines,
or not making up
my own words
and spelling
to conform--
though grades did matter
and my teachers
far wiser in
the greater scheme
of things;

so God, someday
I suspect,
will be greatly pleased
or rejective of me,
neither of us
enamored
of lukewarm
and predictable.
