Not Forgetting
Aimless footfalls traverse
uncertain unknown
chilled concrete slabs stand
marking down a memory
murdered
head down, heart defeated
just a murmur weeps
cross cutting the darkness
a gasp in time
holding on, as pain
chokes out life
left scattered on the bend
where remembrance pretends
smoldered embers still serenade
painted dreams
floating along in ecstasy
left, to be alone
drifting now off to the sea
I'm getting naked tonight
stripping myself bare
undressing all my inhibitions
disrobing all of this fear
dropping in here with the innocent
drenched in murky waters
floating without a doubt cast
aghast, not forgetting the past
