No One To Blame
Kiss me one last time before you leave me
and let that be the memory we share.
We both knew love offered no guarantee,
and the magic that we sought just wasn't there.
Filling the empty void we were feeling,
we gambled hope could mend a fractured heart.
But we needed love to start that healing,
and we weren't sure it was love from the start.
I found an angel at the gates of hell
who soothed my soul and tended to its pain.
And I believe that you found one as well;
our time together was not spent in vain.
You were there when I truly needed you,
helping me believe in angels again.
And in my heart, I know I've helped you too,
so, in truth, there is no need to explain.
I wish you happiness and all the best;
I can tell that you offer me the same.
And even though we failed to pass love's test,
we understand that no one is to blame.
