No One Hears
The winds are high tonight, bringing a change.
Winter weather is upon us, bringing it's all.
Snow is predicted, a 4 to 6 inch range.
A storm, the wind, the cold, the snow about to fall.
We all seek shelter from the storm, a place warm and dry.
Watching the weather play out from inside.
But what of those out there, no one hears their cry.
They are searching for somewhere safe to hide.
I am speaking of a lost, forgotten, four legged friend
That no one thinks or cares about.
Alone out there, wondering when will it end?
Hoping that they are found, even they have doubt.
Helpless, innocent dogs, cats, shivering in the cold tonight.
Never knowing the warmth of a safe place to sleep.
Abused, frightened, hoping to survive until it is light.
Asking why they were not good enough to keep.
Hearts broken, they look, but most will not find,
A home that would welcome them with love.
That would provide shelter, treat them kind.
Sadly, they raise weary eyes, to heaven above.
What had they done that caused them to be thrown away?
What was it that they did that was so wrong?
Did they not understand when they were told to stay?
Did they play a little too rough or too long?
They have forgotten, or never known at all,
the loving touch of someone's gentle hand.
Or hearing their master's familiar voice call.
All they know is they are broken, that they understand.
Let us reach out, a little or alot, either will do.
To an animal that is ready to give everything it can
Donate money, supplies, of course the best gift is you.
To one who knows unconditional love, and whose best friend is man.
