No One Else Can

Poetic justice is truth on a page, for the world to see It might be unpopular, it might be unwelcome. No matter. Be fearless, your ideas are here for a reason. God made us unique, one of a kind. If you do not share them, who will? No one else can. Your knowledge arrives home at the end of a day From your own experience, events you have lived through People you have met, places you have been, Don’t sweeten them up, or make them socially acceptable Share them as is. No one else can. You are a poet, so be a poet! Money matters of course, but… Fearlessness is the way of those who hear a different flutist. I am a bag-pipe woman one night, a male drummer the next. There are many personalities, experiences and memories to share. If I do not give them up, No one else can. Be fearless! Be truthful! Live your integrity, be your most joyful self. Unless you prefer to live like Plath, and that is okay too. Write your thoughts into notebooks and share them. Because you are a poet, and it is up to you because…. No one else can!

I have "be yourself" painted on so many paintings in my house it borders on the semi-ridiculous!

So true. I loved the line "Live your integrity, be your most joyful self." I suppose that has given me purpose over the years. Others don't always agree with me and sometimes don't like what I have to say, but they have to admit that I've always been me!...uniquely so. Caren, you keep on being Caren, okay?

Thank you L. Milton. My college professor had a little talk with me before my interview to become a school counselor and said "I am not saying don't be yourself, but...." "Don't be SO ME?" I guessed. She nodded and we howled, laughing so hard! I was completely me, and the 3 women said they were trying to figure out how to talk the staid, uptight, non-demonstrative principal into hiring me when he smiled at them and said "I think we just found our school counselor." They all 3 told me later they nearly fell off their chairs.
