This photo is the same area of my yard now, with no animal tracks due to wildlife fleeing. The previous poem I put in, shows what this area of the yard usually looks like in winter. I also traveled my street and saw none anywhere in the woods or people's yards. This never happens. the snows is untouched animals have fled somewhere loss witnessed each day Heidi Sands 3/1/23

I truly hate seeing (or not seeing) tracks Heidi. A sad song. I'm sure the critters high-tailed it out of there!

Yes, they left in February when the reckless burn of chemicals created a toxic plume that traveled north from Ohio to Canada. It hasn't been the same here since. I live with woods all around. There is nothing in the trees or flying. No birds or squirrels. The crow and Mourning Dove did stay. Occasionally a smaller bird is seen. It is empty , driving into town too. Occasionally a bird is seen, usually a crow. Seagull were found dead on the coast. Thank you for your visit :)

Animals have better sense than humans...sometimes. An excellent haiku, Heidi, and I love the pic.

Yes true Jim. It has been tough seeing such lack of wildlife. I hope there will be more in time and in Spring ! Thank you :)

A strange episode captured with a caring compassionate pen. Snow without pawprints and other footprints does look grim and depressing. So a chemical laden train derailed and spread toxic stuff? Kudos!! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>*>>>>>>>>>>*********** Plz also read and comment my newest poem too

It was shocking to have no wildlife around, not even birds or squirrels for a long time. There are a few things showing up now. 1 squirrel. Some turkey down the road and a few birds. Still not the usual in sky or in trees and lack of animal tracks. Hopefully, it will get back to normal. It appeared they fled. There was a toxic train derailment and some chemicals were detected in the snow before the last storm. Thank you for your comment :)

Sad to see that there is no animal activity. They know trouble brewing ahead of time.

They are very smart and they fled. Now there is a awful chemical smell in the snow when it is moved or blows. It is potent. It brings on sudden symptoms if headache , burning throat and nausea etc. That pass with time inside. It is a bad widespread situation from Ohio. I worry about the wildlife too. One person reported dead squirrels, east PA. Others are now reporting symptoms from surrounding states too. I hope you stay safe. Take care My friend :)

A picture is worth 1,000 words, the saying goes. Unreal absence of footprints, pawprints, etc. Whoa!

Another heartfelt write Heidi, so sad, that animals are fleeing, and going where though? So much sadness in this world, it breaks my heart, especially The Ukraine, and the heartless continue to pound it! Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

I don't know where they went from the Northeast. I know many were found dead at burn site in Palestine. Deer near the river, thousands of fish and many small animals shown at railroad tracks. Yes , very much sadness in the world. It breaks my heart too. Thank you :)
