New Beginnings
The white froth roared up the incline of the sea
As the tide came in, the thirsty sand lapping it up.
The mile long beach was deserted
Except for the hotel guests and Mexican fisherman.
All the pool deck chairs were taken
So she walked down the sand dunes
And spread out her blue and white striped towel.
She was one with the azure blue sea.
As she looked out towards the fishing boats,
A grey whale jumped towards the sky,
And quickly disappeared into the depth of blue reflection.
She pulled out her notepad, sketching what had transpired.
Her pencil swiftly drew the lines
Some straight, some gracefully curved
Shading light and dark, here and there
Until the lively scene vividly appeared on paper.
Once satisfaction was complete,
Her pencil was carefully laid aside
And she closed her eyes to shut out the noise,
Travelling within her inner world.
The peace and tranquility of her surroundings washed over her.
As the hot sun warmed her brown body,
She shed the wrappings of her ghosts and thoughts of the past
To lay bare her soul for new beginnings.
