Listen to poem:

Neverland Over Wonderland

To the moon, Alice, to one of the many moons… Forget the rabbit hole for once let’s go in a different direction, to lands beyond imagination Take my hand, Alice, hold on to mine, and never let go… Trust me as we leave reality we’ll take that next turn to the right, and race towards sunlight Toss caution to the wind, Alice, live carefree like a child would… Cut off those ropes and hooks that bind you don’t be scared of your own shadow, rather, dance with it like there’s no tomorrow Tap into laughter again, Alice, so that fairies can frolic to its melodies… Remember how good it feels Cheshire cat grins—those come and go, but laughter lives in hearts you know Think not of time, Alice, escape with me where dreams are born… Step off that cliff towards uncertainty just fly away, boosted by happiness, embracing adventure and silliness To the moon, Alice, across and over it, to the land of Never You’ve been to the land of Wonder and learned to grow up, but I have to say, sometimes going back to the start shows the right way… http://www.4shared.com/music/rOkXpaip/nowdrlnd.html?

Nikko, for me this is not quite as good as others of yours that I have faved, but even with that in mind, it still fell into my TOP TEN of this latest contest! I scrolled down and saw that I had seen it in 2010. No wonder I had no idea you wrote it. You were very wise to use a poem with the themes of Wonderland vs. Neverland. I am such a Peter Pan myself, this is what clinched it for me!! Congrats in my contest.

Nikko, your talent at recitation is outstanding! So much emotion and meaning was conveyed in your voice. The poem moved to an entirely different level for me. Congratulations! Please comment on my blog if you can.

Nikko, your filedropper link to this poem no longer works. I suspect it has expired, something I was afraid of. I created a link in my Dropbox account that you can use instead. Paste this into your poem: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kcxb5db06mised4/nowdrlnd.wma Cheers, Roy

Now this is one of your special ones. One of those where you really put yourself into it. It seemed to me that you tried to find a side of Alice that resembles you and emphasized it here, so you can relate to it more. Wonderful job! :)

I like the idea of kind of puttng yourself in orbit, of identifying with such a character as Alice. Congrats on the selection. Dave

Hi again! See! Chris leaves as many comments as you do on his work! Do you know each other? Or do you only know each other from this site? I don't remember him mentioning ever knowing someone from the Philippines? I thought maybe you are Japanese, because he knows lots of Japanese people, but I went throught the list and saw you are from the Philippines. Maybe I will look at some haiku now--Phong
