I need you but you don't need me My famished friendships far too meager For your tribute I'm too eager Your casual contact is my ectasy I close my teeth over extravagant praise I walk my words delicately over quicksand Balancing banal face against expecting grand Regard, simple notice and my spirits raise Every day I muzzle my monstrous greed My pride and desire must equally hinder In nonchalance only can I join your splendor The self I keep is the one I feed-

I have a friend that makes me feel this way; I met her last week for lunch and we talked and laughed for four hours so maybe my feelings were wrong.
