Nature Nurtures
Nature Nurtures
Fall’s color creeps across her fingertips
moving through the darkness of warmth’s chill
subtly shifting focus – slowly grips
whispers on the breeze: “It’s time, be still.”
As apples faces reddened, softly blush
plump pumpkins practice making orange faces
green beans and peas dance limply in the hush
as fingertips of leaves show fall’s first traces.
Crimson tomatoes challenge Shakespeare’s claim
deep yellow squash lies ripening in the dust
emerald green hot peppers tend their flame
turnips sport their coat of ruddy rust.
Fall’s color creeps across her fingertips
preparing all to kiss our waiting lips.
