Nature Foursome

~a sea gull’s swift flight
      over waves, shadow as kite
         last catch before night

~choppy waves reflect
birds of sea by light inspect
         dead fishes’ bisect

~shad fish seek cover
fish schools shield each the other
         surrogate mother

~ocean waves relent
      light of day energy spent
         sea smells of salt scent

I must have missed this while I was out of town, John. How cool that we both chose to write about the sea. Your imagery is so vividly. I love all the verses, especially the one about the fish schools shielding each other as "surrogate mothers." Congratulations on your win, my friend! Love, Carolyn

Just beautiful John, I am really liking the rhyming haiku, actually, I find them a bit more difficult to write, best of luck~~
