Natural Disaster

My heart comes with tornado warnings and my mind is shaken up by earthquakes. My eyes should come with flash flood signs because baby- Can’t you see? I am a natural disaster. You make me want to tear myself apart- Build myself back up, cementing you into the foundation. You make my soul wear a lock and I hid the spare key under your tongue. Those butterflies you put in my stomach are really just elephants with wings taped on. You make me feel as warm as molten gold And cold as the sharpened rain. But right now looking at you in this light under the stars That are hiding behind clouds, through the snowflakes in my lashes and our crinkled eyes I realize why storms are named after people.
