~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When a heart breaks, there is no indication,
Some sign, heralding the pause,
Between hope and hopeless, between
Music and total grief, between
Poetry and prose, between
Light and loss, between
Joy and miserable, the mystery
From the heartbreak, comes as the colors,
Darkest dread and unspoken bleakness,
Heavy bitterness, stinging tears or doubting,
Lingering on the moments,
Disappearing into the dreams…
Where life stops, almost wraithlike,
Flowing darkness through the vulnerable
Places where hope once lived,
Places where light once breathed,
Places where music once graced…
The spirit with the feelings, blessings
Often fulfilling like a comforting song,
In the winds, where leaves dance
And joy lifts the moments from their silence,
Erasing solitude with the aliveness
Of a summer moon, when light floods
The moments, hesitating to be understood.
When a heart breaks, there is no reasoning…
With the mind who draws its own conclusions,
Writes its own stories on the graves,
Where love once glistened in the silence,
Intimate and soothing away the pangs of regret,
Living in the soul of those who feel the neglect,
Fleeting tunes of wistfulness, a whisper
In the heart who once felt – still feels, yet now…
There is only the aching grief, the anguish who says…
Everything that meant anything – has gone away,
And only the darkness fills the heavy hearts,
Who still yearn, who still pray…
That this heartbreak – will refuse to stay.
