In Memory of Grumpy Cat

Image result for adult brown tabby

Age unknown, died October 2000 after 15 years as my devoted pet.

After this stray boy came in the house he never wanted to go outside again.

The air is full of mourning although the years have passed, my tears still flow like waves upon a rolling vast ocean; I asked God to take my treasure in his trust for all time, my sweet cat now slumbers in the silent dust. Heavenly angels watch his still soft eternal repose, I go there often and just sit, to remember him and weep; a moss draped stone upon the emerald green grass, the only symbol of his existence on this earth. He came to me a stray lost, starving and alone in the world, filled with utter fear and total distrust for all of mankind; ever so slowly a loving relationship and an eternal bond, yes, death is the end of life but the love lives on. I watched his slow breathing all that long, long night, and when the sun rose high, he passed through the gate; in Paradise, I imagine him waiting so quietly for me, one day, I will hold him again to my heart. ___________________________ November 1, 2013 Poetry/Verse/My Treasure Copyright Protected, ID 13-1062-468-0 All Rights Reserved. Ani, oh you picked a poem very close to my heart, my Grump cat was very special to me and still I grieve his passing, the day he died I drove endless roads for hours weeping and weeping, he loved me so much, I guess he knew I saved him from the streets, peace _Constance

Jan and PM thank you so much for visiting my poem. It was so emotional to read this write again, time never erases the love. I always considered Grumpy a gift from God as he came into my life when I was going through a dark phase. He gave me so much unconditional love. That day so many years ago I placed him in the arms of God, I was reminded of the poem that reads: All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful, The lord God made them all.

Thanks Vijay for the lovely comment, there is no time that can erase love.. this cat loved me so much, I think he knew I saved him from the street. The first time I heard him purr it was like a rusty old engine starting up.

Hi poetic friends. I came across this poem today, I wrote in memory of Grumpy Cat, a stray who stole my heart years ago. He would not let me touch him and growled at me, thus the name Grumpy, I was feeding him outside but it was getting cold so I tricked him inside and he never, ever left. He had been on the street for a while I think. The funny thing was I thought he was black but after a bath he was a brown tabby. The day he died I was broken, I cried for weeks.
