Silent white snowflakes fall from the sky, shrouding the ground where you now lie I brush away flakes to reveal your name though it’s etched inside my heart, bitter tears start flowing You were born asleep, and never smiled nor opened your eyes of blue, I miss you so much my precious child So I whisper I love you Your hand and foot prints displayed in a silver frame are all that remain I cannot mask my heartbreak Life goes on; my tears still fall It’s all about four Contest Sponsored by Broken Wings 4/1/18

Such a deeply touching but very sad poem about a grief that never really goes away for those who've gone/are going through this extremely difficult experience, which you've captured well here, Jan. Congrats on your win my friend. :) hugs ~ Artsie xx

OMG! I saw the title, was scared to read, and my fears were justified: the heartbreak, the pathos. So Stirring!! We struggle to comprehend the mysteries of life and death, each one of us, as we shuffle onto and off of "this mortal coil," as the Bard phrased it. Absolutely awesome write, Jan, in the real sense of that word. Blessings, gw

A lovely poem for a sad occasion. Funny how we must sweep away so we might see the name. Something about the tactile touch and the eyes. Not to mention we don’t want to believe. Well done, sweet friend!

My goodness Jan just yesterday I read the obituary of a little stillborn boy and they described his blue eyes that took after his father's. It's as if you wrote this just for them.

oh gosh Shadow that is so so sad. I'm so sorry you can relate to this tragedy. Thankfully for me it's fiction but I know for some it's sad reality. I much prefer to write humour, but my muse takes me to different places and I just go with the flow but hopefully folks can see a different side to me with serious poems like this:-) hugs Jan xx

There are no words to describe this kind of pain and love, and yet, you did. This is a mystical miracle, and I am pleased to say I know a woman who can write like this.
