My Summertime Muses

My summertime Muses are wearing the jolly
Still decking “the halls with boughs of holly,”
Eschewing everything droll and melancholy
Chanting a happy tune from “Hello, Dolley.”
Helping me deal with a rambunctious collie
Singing ad alta voce “Good Golly, Miss Mollie,”
As I sink to dabble in foolish, but hilarious, folly.

Good golly, What a jolly folly (sorry, but you’ve used up all the Ollys). Do like a monorhyme, and this was one such. Nice one. Terry

Actually, I am not a big fan of monorhyme myself, Terry, and very seldom use them. This one just seemed to click. Glad you enjoyed it.

I like your monorhyme, my friend! They are fun aren't they? I have my fiber optic Christmas tree lit again, in the livingroom. My husband put it back when he realized it was not going to the garage after he found it in my teeny tiny bathroom. I like celebrating Jesus' birth all year!

You go for it, Caren. It's your house!!!..well, your livingroom. Maybe. You have your own "teeny tiny bathroom?" Your husband must be a very patient man.

You did well. It is not easy to write in monorhyme.

You can say that again, Victor, which is why I don't try it very often.

A little folly goes a long way and you'll live longer. Very witty indeed. Have a great day my friend.

So true. I'm trying to cultivate a laugh a day. It can make a lots of misery go away! Have a wonderful week, my friend.

Enjoyed the musical tenor of your poem, Milton. Delightful in familiar and beloved sounds.
