My Man Joe

More special than an autumn moon, I knew we would meet again and soon He made the dream of love sublime, Smile insured that he was mine. Appreciation comes in bursts, We both could probably do much worst. Love fantasy man of my youth, Love of my life, to tell the truth. I have not been the greatest mate, Yet my marriage is pretty great. Because my man never holds a grudge, Finds the shining me inside my sludge. I truly am not about cards of love, Do not think of cupids or turtledove, He always sees me at my best, Pulls out the good, stamps down the rest. Holds the fort, stays gentle and kind. My baby fits, he does not mind. He has known me forever, my man, Joe. The hero of my dream, who loves me so.

Sounds like a saint, one who is blessed with someone who appreciates him too...Can't ask for more than that on this planet. Lucky you, and lucky Joe. ~ Gershon

Thank you Gershon. He is very lucky some days, other days, he is living with a wild woman who is pretty impolite and rude, because she is type-thinking or painting or playing 200 word games.

Thank you. I definitely think I shall keep him. He knows he is perpetually "on probation" though, because I am a Gemini, and we change our mind hourly. At least the poor man is never bored.

This is wonderful, Caren! I was especially taken by the parts: "Because my man never holds a grudge/ Finds the shining me inside my sludge" and "He always sees me at my best/ Pulls out the good, stamps down the rest"... (I am lucky mine is able to do this, too- otherwise he wouldn't be able to put up with me!) Lovely tribute poem. ;)

Thank you Rhona. I know he has not read this poem yet, and I am delighted about that because he is sentimental and would have printed it out and shown the nation already. I am saving it for next Monday, his birthday.

A beautiful honest poem; hope you two are in love with each other, forever.

Thank you M.L. I hope so too, as I am not half as nice as he is, and no one likes the mean-me. I am pretty sure I would be the one to ruin this.

Wow! 47 years of marriage gives you a lot to celebrate when each anniversary rolls around. How wonderful!

Thank you Barry. We dated for four years before we married, and we have been married for 47 years, so guess what? I do know the man, and I thank God that he is big on forgiveness.
