It’s Christmas Eve and at the strike of midnight I peek round my curtains and see silver moonlight Our small garden is dressed in pure wintery white I hear the tinkle of sleigh bells, much to my delight! I peer out the window and there in the crisp snow Is a sleigh with reindeer and Santa saying, "Ho! Ho! Ho!" Daddy’s snoring so loudly he won’t wake at all So I creep down the staircase and into the hall I sneak into the kitchen to get a cool drink And to my surprise, Santa stands by the sink He’s getting water for the reindeer that pull his sled He turns with a smile and says, "You should be in bed." I find a bucket for Santa and he fills it to the top Carries it to the reindeer without spilling a drop He comes back and sprinkles moon dust in my eyes As he promises to leave me a special surprise I return to my bedroom and fall fast asleep Snowflakes are falling, creating drifts so deep When the sun wakes me, it'll be time for me to rise Fling open the curtains so I see Santa's surprise Written in snow, his note said. ‘Thank you, my dear’ Love from Santa Claus and eight grateful reindeer Christmas Story Contest Sponsored by Eve Roper 12-05-17

Normally I'd not comment on a Christmas poem, but this one is fictionally delightful. You're Santa's newest little helper, Jan.

;-) I'm sure you've been forgiven, but if you get a new muse I hope she still has a great sense of humor.

It's very difficult to come up with something different for a Christmas poem but I thought i would give the contest a go:-) When Santa finds out just how naughty I've been this year Lin he may have written a different message in the snow lol:-) I posted the poem last night but now its been updated and reads much better now:-) hugs jan xx

That is great, Jan. Sweetness, humour, lots of imagery, and a surprise at the end. Can't ask for more than that! Totally delightful.

Fun Christmas story, Jan. I find it so difficult to write anything for all these Christmas contests, because I feel I can't come up with something that has not yet been said. This is nice - good luck in the contest.

I too find it difficult Agnes as we barely celebrate it these days and there tends to be lots of similar contests at this time of year. After my hubbies cancer it makes you appreciate what really is important in life and its not material things:-) hugs Jan xx
