My Legacy
My family passed work ethic down to me.
We knew there would be four hours of work
to one hour of play.
They left me the legacy of being on time.
Actually, being an hour or two early.
My family gave me the knowledge
That I am the odd one.
The craziest of the crazies.
And it is okay.
They loaned me their faces and builds.
I have Daddy’s face and build actually.
From my mother I received a love of knowledge.
She left me the delight of playing with children.
And Daddy left me the enthusiasm in being myself
No matter how many think I am crazy.
