My Lady

My lady is the wind’s soft sigh through fields of marigolds in June,
A beach night stroll beneath the moon, a cloudless sky, a butterfly.
She waltzes to a rhapsody and lifts her voice soulfully.
My lady is. . .

A splendid sunset in July as two soared high in a balloon.
The bliss we tasted, you and I, against a bright sky streaked maroon,
is almost like a fantasy which lingers in my memory.
My lady is. . .

A tranquil August lullaby; the ocean’s sound along a dune,
A dragonfly, a blue jay’s cry, a lazy daisy afternoon
till Autumn brings new poetry; then long warm nights soon cease to be,
and months of Winter’s chill ensue.

My lady is the wind’s soft sigh through fields of marigolds in June;
a splendid sunset in July; a tranquil August lullaby.
She waltzes to a rhapsody which lingers in my memory.
When months of Winter’s chill ensue, I’ve bid my Lady Love adieu.

Andrea, I didn't know about this gem until I saw in your SP Quill that it had won a top 10 place in the previous Quill, which I didn't have, so I found it at Soup. This is a gorgeous love song to the summer months which I know you adore, and are now here. I loved the summary stanza that reprised lines of the previous stanzas. I hope this summer brings you these same joys and many more, my friend. Going in my faves, so delightful ~ John

writing in the sublime does sum this up wonderfully, so sensuous when you write like this.. especially when a personification....

Andrea, this is one of those poems that when you're finished reading it, you have to just sit and linger and smile and put the pictures all to bed because they just keep dancing and dancing. Congrats on the win. And thanks for the soup mail, you're sweet and we have much in common. ALL said was appreciated. Ill respond Monday. We're visiting inlaws this weekend (Canada Day). I love summer too! This is a beautiful tribute to it, though at first I thought it was a real woman and I was wishing I was her and had a man that felt that way about me! ha! Seriously though, this is a lovely piece. Excellent.
