My Friend, My Love
I watch you sleep and wonder where our love will go
when twilight moon has touched the hands of God
and aging sun has crossed the bridge of night
Daylight spoons of memories will lay upon my breath
fuller still then our own sun did, long and long ago
my friend, my love,
I wrap my arms around your waist of warm
suppressing yawns, my thoughts like flowers bloom
inside this aging room, what mesmerizes me the most
is the fact that we contain the total years of servant love
with roses fresh and stems as green as yesterday,
my friend, my love,
Don't wake soulmate, before the schooner dawn
has had a chance to listen to its heart own feel
right here with spread of sleep still in your hair I dare
give prayer to our union bless and morn's confess ,
my friend, my love,
I watch you sleep and wonder what I'll do when you
have gone to angel's keep perhaps, I can come too ,
perhaps ?
