My Forest Trek

one afternoon set out into woods
my heart began beating in thuds

all along, saw wild flowers and strange herbs
so pleased, I kept moving on
a jaunt so rewarding

the whistle of a quail fell in my ears, sweet
and the rhythm of the tapping of a wood pecker
also the creaking of dry leaves under my feet-
all familiar sounds to any forest trekker

a soft gurgling sound
from a cataract, I heard~
a lullaby sweet

Your imagery brought the forest into my mind "he whistle of a quail fell in my ears, sweet and the rhythm of the tapping of a wood pecker also the creaking of dry leaves under my feet-"

From verse to verse, your love for nature speaks, singing a sweet lullaby to the universe. Beautifully penned Valsa!...ab

What a lovely walk in the forest. I yearn for nature. Unfortunately I live completely alone like a hermit.

This complicated combination of forms has been done quite effectively. Valsa, you've done an excellent job with the views and noises of the woodland.
