My Escape From a Three-Sided Prison
One day
Morning sunshine
Warm and pleasing
Shining on the three walls that lock me in
Starting my daydreams
Travels around universe
No boundaries
No walls to hold me in
No toils to tire my bones
No stress to furrow my brow
Only endless oceans
Fields covered with a million flowers
Skies filled with velvety clouds
Alas, it is only a dream
A fantasy land that never existed
It is a place of dreams and wishes
My mind created it
My heart filled it with life and hope
Reality creeps back in
The real world returns as the happiness dies
Piles of papers strewn around
Files reach toward flickering neon bulbs
Day old coffee stains a cheap plastic cup
That is my life
That is what I awaken to see
The universe
The fields, flowers and clouds I have seen
The experiences I have had
They will all have to wait for now
They will have to wait for another daydream
