~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Inside, where only I can see… There lives my enemy, My enemy - she is me. Inside, where only I can feel… Like my heart is breaking, Like my soul’s forsaking. Inside, where only I can know… There lives my adversary, So dark and out of control. Inside, where shadows fall… Erasing my dreams, my hopes With worries, doubts and fears… There, inside me… I eventually find the courage, To let go of the past, Where the darkness was the worst. There, inside me… I find the strength that I need, To forgive that dismal enemy…. The enemy, who is me!
wow, this poem is powerful. I believe my enemy dwells inside me too...I learned years ago to forgive her for her shortcomings...and in doing so, I am stronger...not carrying around so much baggage. Must fave this one, hugs, Sara
Hey Gina.. You skilfully explore the internal struggles of self-acceptance, acknowledging the darkness within while ultimately finding the strength to confront and forgive oneself. The use of vivid imagery and the emotional journey depicted make it a relatable and powerful piece... Best of luck in the contest.
