My Daddy Dearest
My praises are to God for you, my Dad
Yes, and thanksgiving, too, for His goodness*
Delighting me with your presence so glad
Assuring me His fatherly greatness.
Dad, to me you're the Lord's marvelous gift
Deserving not I, but His grace allowed
You're the first human that gave me a lift
Doing all as the best father you've vowed.
Each day with your kindness speaks of true love
Affirming the Sovereign's compassion
Reminding me of blessings from above
Ever ready to flow by faith's motion.
Surely, your testimony will shine bright
That reflects God's light, leading to what's right.
*Psalm 107:8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
