Written 11th November 2024 - My late mother's birthday

I flew to the moon holding my balloon Heard angels singing in heavenly tune I watched fairies dancing Which was most entrancing It was magic made in the stars and moon. Soon my heart went plop, my ballon had popped I shook all over, was completely shocked Had the biggest surprise Stood there before my eyes Was mother wearing her favourite frock.

I like the way the balloon took you all the way to the moon and stars, with all that singing and dancing, only to find you're standing next to your mom. Your poem really brings out the magic a simple balloon and an imagination can conjure. Oh what a surprise when it went "pop!"

If you like balloons, I wrote one called "The Balloon", but your poem feels real and true. If it is true, your balloon finds new life here!

What a surprise seeing your Mother Beryl. We can dream, now we have to find a balloon that can take us up high. Thanks for sharing and wishing you well in Andrea's contest. She is a wonderful judge...
