Back to square one again and again Rules to abide by if paradise wish to attain The basics, ahh someone's written them down Would I really fail if this guidance not around? Innately good I would like to believe Rather than carrot and stick to ensure achieve Free will embraced and my will leads my way Instead of good just to avoid devil's dismay I like most of the book and parables inside I'm not even against the Word being a guide It's important to question why you do what you do If you are good, then be good through and through If it's just the threat of hell that keeps you on track Then maybe that's why you keep coming back

Thanks Karen, I feel I chanced my arm entering the ring on this contest - it's hard to know what might upset, but I'd aimed to stay away from offence :) thanks for your support

Wise words and well said. Faith is important and is the driving force behind the scriptures I read. I didn't grow up in a particularly religious environment, but our home was spiritual and driven by faith and not the threat of hell as you so well said. A pleasant read. The Gospel is Jesus gives Himself for our sin, died, buried, resurrected. We are not good but he is and we are invited to be in communion with Him. We leave the side of wrath and are wrapped in His righteousness. The threat of hell might draw someone in but only being born again and living for Christ will save us.

Thanks for your comment Kim - I tried to write for the theme without being too controversial, using the presumption of reincarnation as guided. There's an element I've personally encountered (and within the gospels) where piety is paired with being judgemental and that can undermine the intention for me. Best wishes
