Mushroom Hill's - Evening Fall
Listen to poem:
Here upon Mushroom Hill it is the evening fall
Moms retired putting the younger tots to bed
Dads arrive; watching the older boys play ball
Eat their ploughman's lunch with crusty bread
Moms retired putting the younger tots to bed
Hard worked men sit about to enjoy their rest
Eat their ploughman's lunch with crusty bread
Shirt button’s opened to cool a sweated chest
Hard worked men sit about to enjoy their rest
Glasses filled by cool strong root ginger beers
Shirt button’s opened to cool a sweated chest
Manly chat of their day expressed with cheers
Glasses filled by cool strong root ginger beers
Older boys listen on intent to their Dad’s tales
Manly chat of their day expressed with cheers
As a hope, they can share a glass of Dad’s ale
Older boys listen on intent to their Dad’s tales
As dogs lounge, under the cat's watchful eyes
As a hope, they can share a glass of Dad’s ale
Up yonder, the corncrakes, as grate their cries
As dogs lounge, under the cat's watchful eyes
Dads arrive, watching the older boys play ball
Up yonder, the Corncrakes as grate their cries
Here upon Mushroom Hill it is the evening fall
