Mushroom Hill, The Summer House
Listen to poem:
It’s the summer holidays, upon Mushroom Hill
The summer house is finished, as painted new
There children as gather you can feel the thrill
Window glass polished, as to get a better view
The summer house is finished as painted new
Bright cushions all placed on the wicker chairs
Window glass polished, as to get a better view
Children fill the sills with toys and teddy bears
Bright cushions as placed on the wicker chairs
Blackbirds sitting peering from the roof eaves
Children fill the sills with toys and teddy bears
A magpie lingers to see what bits it can thieve
Blackbirds sitting peering from the roof eaves
Mums bring cakes, as freshly made lemonade
A magpie lingers to see what bits it can thieve
Fresh bread sandwiches, lovingly home made
Mums bring cakes, as freshly made lemonade
Dogs barking loud sending the cat up a height
Fresh bread sandwiches, lovingly home made
We’re all staying up 'till it is late into the night
Dogs barking loud sending the cat up a height
There children as gather you can feel the thrill
We’re all staying up 'till it is late into the night
It’s the summer holidays, upon Mushroom Hill
