My favorite word is mum Mine may be aged ... but I am so blessed to still have her in my life On reflection I realise when I was growing up that I failed to appreciate the sacrifices she made However... all that changed when I became a mother The first time my son called me ‘mum’ I cried happy tears - it was the most precious word I’d ever heard! My son and my mum mean the world to me Cherish your mum... she is the only one you will have Favorite Word Poetry Contest Sponsored by Chantelle Anne Cooke 8/17/19

I ran to your page to see this one, because I know how much your Mum means to you. I was certainly glad to read this one. Another terrific tribute to your Mum. I hope you are sharing these with her, Jan!

My mother is 84 and works 4 days a week in a Democratic Councilman's office. For her 85th birthday we are taking her to see West Side Story on Broadway. Also, I am going with her next weekend to see the musical Chicago. Fine tribute to motherhood here. Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Ohh Jan this is such a beautiful heartfelt write about your lovely Mum. Sadly my own Mum died in 1990 but she is still alive in my heart and both Grandkids know all about their Great Nana as if they knew her too. Arabella often says she would have liked her name ~ Audrey. My Mum was a kind and generous lady, who went far too soon - bless her. Thinking this will be a top placement in contest, so good luck dear Jan. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

I would have loved to meet my maternal grandma especially as mum talks about her every day, she lost her when she was about 7 and went on to have 2 step mothers and not a happy childhood - the first step mother Getrude was cruel and would hit mum and pull her hair - I hear more tales of her every day:-( hugs Jan xx

G'day Jan … very sound advice indeed Jan. It seems only experience truly reminds us this, and can bring regrets when recalling giving Mother heartache - thank you Jan - Lindsay

This is a tearful (in a good-way) lovely verse... I've always like the sound of the word "MUM" with the accents sounds to me more loving and caring than MOM. I think my opinion only it's human nature growing up. We fail to appreciate the sacrifices Mum's make...Ah and she We only Get One birth MUM...Blessings to you and your MUM Tenderly Sweet write A FAV for me!! :) James

Aww thanks James, here in the Uk we tend to use mum not mom. I am so so so lucky to still have mine, she is elderly and in a care home but I try and visit her every day I can:-) I do appreciate the fave, many thanks for that and congrats again on POTD:-) hugs jan xx

They make so many sacrifices Jan and sometimes its not until you get older you realise the full extent of those sacrifices'. They are priceless. Tom
