Much Like the Rain

And then one day, much like a rain that washes everything away I realized my life had changed, my sky had changed from blue to gray For one by one, those I have loved, now gone to say goodbye And all the things that we have known, no longer here, I want to cry An empty shelf, for what I had collected seems to disappear The shops, the streets, the buildings replaced, a different atmosphere Much like the rain, my tears will fall, reflecting what has changed Yet I have lived and have survived and now my world is rearranged

we have to adjust our lives to suit each era we go through, and finally admit i have come thus far, through each season of my life, now as the the rain has washed away all that that I was, all that I knew - I have now set a bar, for here I still stand, tears will fall, but my life has changed, 'and now my world is re-arranged' Your poems are very deep and meaningful Mike. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

WOW! If I could express my feelings as clear as you have , Mike, in your verse. I would not change a word of it. I cannot understand the world today, I feel like an outsider looking in, past my use by date etc. It is comforting to realise that I am not alone in this regard. Thank you, Mike. Old Duck

So true, how life changes. At first it is a shock. So I think we shouldn’t dwell (but can sometimes visit) the past. We need to see th road in front of us, the blessings along the way and know one day we will meet up with heaven. God bless! Great poem…poignant images.

Very touching, Mike. I guess it comes with getting older. One day you look around and see you're the last man standing. You have put into words , how many feel. Really nice write.
