Mourning Dove
As the light of day breaks
upon the dew coated grass
the only thing moving
are the eyes of a graceful mourning dove
foraging for seeds
as its wings flutter before the dawn
to welcome the sun's warmth
with its soft coos of lament
that drift on the breeze
to ears awakening from a night's sleep
leaving the soul with a sense of peace
